Esther Schwertasek is a Dutch artist living and working in Amsterdam.
In 2013 she went to Buenos Aires to visit the ESMA building. It was used as an illegal secret detention centre during the so-called national reorganization process (dirty war) of Argentina’s 1976-1983 military dictatorship. Esther Schwertasek is currently working on a series about the Lloyd Hotel, a famous Dutch hotel that was also used to house refugees and later on served as a (youth) detention centre. “I love paint, the material. Oil paint slows you down. You cannot get a fast image” Private views in the studio are welcomed on request. Please send an email to Esther Schwertasek |
